Andy the vet & friends is a brand new, independent small animal veterinary practice based in the heart of Storrington, owned and led by local vet Andy Mead.

We offer veterinary care for all ages and breeds and small pets too, delivered by an experienced, compassionate team in surroundings that are modern and welcoming.

We promise that whenever your companions are with us they will be looked after and loved just as much as they would be at home!

Meet the team

Andy Mead BVetMed MRCVS

I have had a passion for animals since I can remember and was determined to be a vet from a young age. Work experience at 15 had me convinced that this was ‘my calling’ and the rest as they say is history!

I have lived and worked in the Storrington area for over 20 years having graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2003. I started my first job in Pulborough just a few days after graduating.

In what felt like no time at all I had fallen in love with the area, settled down with my amazing wife Jemima, and started a family. Our two beautiful daughters Isobel and Emily go to a local village primary school. We share our home with Bea, our geriatric cat, who, when not busy sleeping, prowls the house looking for food and affection!

I absolutely love the job I do and thrive on the variety that every hour of every day as a vet brings, but most of all I relish the opportunity I am given on a daily basis to build relationships with my clients, getting to know them and ultimately working together with them to make sure their pets stay as happy and healthy as possible.

For some time now, (having a family may have got in the way a bit!), I have wanted to open a practice of my own to offer a more personal approach to veterinary care, treating the individual and not the pack.

When I’m not ‘vetting’ you’ll find me spending time with my wonderful family, making things out of wood, going for long walks, and occasionally running in an attempt to keep fit!

I look forward to welcoming you to Andy-the-Vet & Friends very soon.

About the team

I have brought together a fantastic team of experienced and likeminded friends that I have met along my journey, to help deliver my vision for pet care with a personal touch.

These same friendly faces will be here every time you visit and, using their wealth of knowledge and experience, will always be available to offer advice, provide reassurance and help you in just about any way they can.

Liz Panter RVN

Liz, in her own words, has been ‘mad about animals’ from an early age and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse back in 1997. (She won’t thank me for telling you that!). After relocating to West Sussex in 2006 she joined Arun Veterinary Group as Head Nurse and latterly became Practice Manager.

Liz has developed a wide range of skills over the years, from running nurse clinics and monitoring anaesthetics, to managing large teams and everything in between. Liz is passionate about providing the very best in veterinary care to every single patient in her charge.

Liz and husband Darren (our very capable handyman!) share their home with a veritable menagerie of rescue animals, greyhound Paddy, lurcher Po and cats Squid, Skibs, Grubly and Little boy.

Clare

Clare has over 20 years experience as a veterinary receptionist, and despite brief spells as a driving instructor and an air hostess, somehow the desire to work with animals always pulls her back!

Clare has a passion for customer care and relishes the opportunity that being ‘behind reception’ provides to meet and get to know owners and their pets alike.

When not working , Clare can be found indulging in her passion for crochet, passing on her skills by teaching lessons at The Sussex Yarn Collection in Storrington. Oh and providing much needed childcare for her 5 grandchildren!

Clare is ‘owned’ by 5 cats Dexter, Leo, Picasso, Camembert and Wolfie.

Debbie

Debbie has worked locally as a veterinary receptionist for over 10 years amassing a wealth of experience and knowledge during that time.

Debbie in her own words ‘flourishes’ in an environment where she can get to know the clients and is always ready to be a source of reassurance in times of crisis but share in the joyous moments too.

In a former life Debbie provided dog walking services to the good people of Ashington, and also worked in the hospitality sector.

When not at work Debbie loves spending time with her family and walking her rather cute but mischievous Norfolk Terrier, Rocket. She too is ‘owned’ by a cat called Bluebell!
